There are times when it’s possible for a hard fall or blow to the face to cause a tooth to crack severely. Sometimes a cracked tooth can be saved by a root canal. However, often the damage may be so extensive that Dr. Anthony Foster simply must extract the tooth to prevent further problems.

Once your gums have healed Dr. Anthony Foster can help you understand your restoration options. One of the most effective ways to do this is to have a dental implant installed directly into your jaw. A dental implant can be installed on an outpatient basis where you will be fully sedated, and you will need to arrange to have someone drive you home after the procedure and help you until your sedative wears off.

During the procedure, a small incision will be made in your gums and a titanium abutment is then screwed into a narrow channel. Titanium is a biologically safe metal that in time will fuse to your natural bone tissues. After your gums have healed and the implant has fused with the bone, we can start the process of fully restoring the tooth with a standard crown.

If you have a cracked or otherwise damaged tooth you should not delay in calling Dr. Anthony Foster’s office in Brooklyn, New York at 718-673-8060 to seek immediate treatment.  We are happy to help you with all of your smile care needs.
